Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) is extremely grateful to the Grande Prairie RCMP and Firefighters’ Charitable Foundation for their recent donations, totaling $11,200, which will go toward the Division’s lunch program.

Earlier this year, the Grande Prairie RCMP held its 51st Archie Harvey Memorial Golf Tournament, an event held to raise money for the community and honour a man who gave his life for his community. This year’s tournament raised $20,000 for school divisions and community groups throughout Grande Prairie. This year, PWPSD was thankful to receive a $1200 donation to its lunch program, which helps students grow and thrive while at school.

The Grande Prairie Firefighters’ Charitable Foundation (GPFFCF), a dedicated charity led by the city’s firefighters, has donated $10,000 to the PWPSD lunch program. GPFFCF Chairperson, Riley Boomgaarden, says the Foundation was excited to do a little more this year, to help make sure kids have some good healthy food in their bellies.

PWPSD Assistant Superintendent Mrs. Penny Rose says she is honoured to accept these donations on behalf of the Division. “On top of working hard to keep our communities safe, these first responders put in a lot of effort to show support for our students, both financially and through classroom visits.” PWPSD would like to thank the Grande Prairie RCMP and GPFFCF for their continued support and partnership.
